Who we are

Closest Word is a word game made by an independent developer (“we”). Questions about this policy or your data: closestword.app@gmail.com.

What stays on your device

Your guesses, game history, coins, streaks, achievements, settings and downloaded word packs are stored only on your device. We do not receive them.

Online features (optional)

Online features create an anonymous guest account (a random ID) with our backend provider Supabase. We never ask for your name, email or phone number.

Depending on what you use, we process: Daily results you choose to compare (puzzle number, guesses, hints, solved or revealed, word language), kept for 60 days; the nickname you pick for the weekly ranking, shown to other players; friend challenges (the hidden word’s ID and each player’s result), kept for 30 days; duel rooms and progress, kept for about one day; and technical counters that limit abuse.

We use this data only to provide these features and to protect the service. Guest accounts with no activity for 180 days are deleted automatically.

Word packs

Word packs are downloaded from Supabase Storage. Like any web server, the provider processes your IP address to deliver the file.

Ads

The free version offers optional rewarded ads from Google AdMob. AdMob may process your advertising ID, IP address and device information. Ads are personalised only if you agree in Google’s consent form; you can change this in Settings. There are no ads with the Full Version. See how Google uses data in ads.

Purchases

The Full Version is sold through Google Play and managed with RevenueCat. We receive whether you own it, never your payment details.

Service providers

Supabase (online features and downloads), Google (Play, AdMob) and RevenueCat process data for us under their own privacy terms. They may process it outside your country with appropriate safeguards. We do not sell your data.

Your choices and rights

Delete everything the server holds for you at any time: Settings → Online → Delete my online data. More on the data deletion page.

You may ask us to access, correct or delete your data, or object to its processing, at closestword.app@gmail.com. If you are in the EU/EEA or the UK, you may also complain to your data protection authority.

Children

The game is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their personal data.

Security

Data travels over HTTPS, and your guest session is stored in the device’s secure keystore.
